My friend Anna handmade this inspiration book for my birthday/the holidays. I know she worked really hard on it since my birthday was 4 months ago. There was NO glue or tape used in the making of this book, everything was hand-stitched. I’m in love. Check out more of her incredible work here.

talking inspiration & the future of Little Rooms with WhatsWear.com

Relatively new to the accessories scene, Ester Delug designer and founder of Little Rooms continues to solicit fans worldwide. “I had always wanted to be involved with design,” she explains. And despite “going in a few directions,” trying her hand at stage make-up and other artistic fancies, it was only after assisting another high profile jeweler that she grew the confidence (and industry know-how) to start her own line.

Creating whimsical works of conversation-starting brilliance, Delug loves to work with materials that allow her to express her creativity and expansive, avant-garde ideas, as well as accommodate her insatiable wild imagination. “Metal has always been my favorite medium for jewelry. The possibilities when working with it are endless,” as she has quite literally proved with her Cityscape ring design; one only has to look at her Bridge Double Finger Ring to appreciate her fascination with the miniature and detailed. Personally, she favors metal as a material over stones and enamel as the latter prove more restricting and “unrealistic for everyday wear” — a pragmatic woman at heart, yet with a whimsical, nostalgia-meets-21st century twist.

“I usually just think about the things in life that I am drawn to and go from there,” Delug admits, when it comes to inspiration. You may think that sounds rather banal, but it works – to perfection. “Architecture has always had an influence on my work, so the city motifs were a natural direction for me to go in” – which, needless to say, was the key inspiration and influence of Little Room’s newest “Thornwall” collection.  Delug unites the city and her jewelry, like muse and canvas. One could consider the way a new building springs up in a city, contrasting and complimenting the old and ancient around it, yet simultaneously adding something modern and exotic. This is the way she views the pieces in her collections, “A great piece of jewelry can stand the test of time.”

Playing the heroic accessory Samaritan, she loves “being able to provide a staple in someone’s wardrobe,” and even humbly aware of her industry falling slightly in the shadow of the economic limelight, she provides a quirky and entrepreneurial solution: “I guess the solution would be to team up with a lingerie designer and send models down the runway in panties and bling.” Fall 2010, perhaps?

Based in the fashion-centered-oh-so-glamorous Los Angeles, California, and available from www.LittleRooms.com, this fabulous innovative jewlery designer has high hopes for the future. “I’m working right now to expand the brand. Jewelry will always be a priority but I want to offer more accessories like purses and shoes”. So far she’s already raised the skyline, so whose to say she can’t raise the roof?

Had a delicious holiday dinner with friends, some of whom are not featured since they decided to not dress up and then were opposed to being photographed. Love ya.

Thanksgiving family vacation, exactly what I needed. Highlights included snorkeling and being 4ft away from a huge sea turtle, cotton candy at dinner, and lots of time to finally relax. Little Rooms update coming up soon..
